How It Works
Over 90% of all E-mail is spam. We've found our three step process offers our customers the best flexibility while eliminating most of the junk Email.
Step One - Block Known Spam Sources
The first step consists of testing various aspects of an Email header
and use public and custom developed blacklists. This blocks approximately 75% of all spam with less than 0.1% false positives.
Messages blocked by this step are never seen by the customer. Emails blocked are bounced back to the sender, just in case
it's not spam. Should a vendor/client of yours be on any of the lists used, we can "whitelist" their
Email server. Although this is rarely necessary, this change will allow Email to go through our network.
Step Two - Intelligent Greylisting
Spammers typically only try sending Email once. With the amount of botnets sending out spam, many of these Emails never get through, while allowing legitimate Email servers through. This blocks about 9% of all spam.
Step Three - Does the Email appear to be spam?
The last step consists of over 100 tests that are performed on each Email passing through our system. Each test adds or subtracts from a total. Once a message goes over a specified threshold, the message is marked as spam. Spam marked should be reviewed as not all marking are 100% correct. The subject line of the Email is changed and delivered to the individual. About 6% of Email delivered is marked at this step.
